Hookk

FAQ

Common questions.

A quick guide to the way Hookk subscriptions, events, delivery attempts, and plan usage work.

What is an event in Hookk?

An event has an action, an object type, and an optional JSON payload. Hookk compares its action and object against active webhook subscriptions.

How do I match all events?

Use the wildcard "*" for the action, object, or both when configuring a webhook. An event must match both the subscription's action and object filters.

Does event creation mean that delivery succeeded?

No. Event creation queues deliveries asynchronously. Inspect the event and its delivery records to see whether each request succeeded, is pending, or failed.

How are webhook requests verified?

Hookk signs requests with HMAC-SHA256 using the endpoint's signing secret. Verify the signature against the exact raw JSON body and check the timestamp to protect against replay.

What happens when an endpoint is unavailable?

Failed deliveries are retried automatically on a tapered schedule. You can also queue a manual retry from the dashboard. A receiver should tolerate repeated event IDs.

Can I disable a webhook?

Yes. Disabling an endpoint prevents new events from creating deliveries for it; it does not cancel deliveries that have already been created.

What are the current event allowances?

Free includes 1,000 events and 2 enabled hooks; Basic is $29/month for 25,000 events and 5 enabled hooks; Standard is $49/month for 100,000 events and 25 enabled hooks; Pro is $99/month for 250,000 events and 50 enabled hooks. Get in touch for Enterprise. Event usage resets 31 days after the billing period starts. Downgrades automatically disable excess hooks, keeping the oldest enabled hooks.

Where can I find API documentation?

The project's api-docs directory documents the versioned REST API, webhook requests, events, deliveries, and migration from legacy functions. The end-user guide is in the user-guide directory.
